What is diabetes?

In diabetes, blood glucose levels are abnormally high. This condition of glucose is caused by a lack or almost elimination of insulin in the body, which results in the impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.  This disease is also called the silent killer. Diabetes is a disease that, if left untreated, quietly hollows out the internal organs of the human body like a termite.

 This disease can lead to vision loss, kidney failure, and many other medical problems. In the present age, lifestyle, especially certain eating habits, are the ones that make people suffer from this disease.  If diagnosed early, it is easier to control.


 Certain foods are especially important to control the blood glucose level

 Bitter gourd

 Bitter gourd is a vegetable that few people like, but there are many ways to make it delicious by reducing its bitterness.

 Eating bitter gourd triggers a chemical reaction in the body that lowers blood glucose levels and helps control insulin levels.  One bitter gourd, a pinch of salt, a pinch of black pepper, and one or two teaspoons of lemon juice. Wash the bitter gourd thoroughly and squeeze out the juice, add salt, pepper, and lemon juice to it.  Drinking on an empty stomach is said to help control blood sugar levels.


 Fenugreek seeds have many health benefits. The water prepared from it can help in keeping the blood sugar level stable. According to various medical research reports, the amount of fiber dissolved in fenugreek seeds is very high.  Helps lower blood sugar levels by slowing down the process of digestion and absorption of carbohydrates.

 Fenugreek tea can be useful for this purpose.  Put 2.5 grams fenugreek seeds in a mortar and coat and then put it in a cup and fill it with hot water. Then shake the tea well with a spoon and drink it.

 Fennel Seed

 Fennel helps control diabetes, lowers blood sugar levels, and increases insulin due to its vitamin C and potassium.


 Ginger helps control blood glucose levels, which can reduce the risk of diabetes.


 Eggs are good for muscle development. They are high in protein. Egg whites are said to be good for type 2 diabetes.

 Green tea

 According to various medical reports, high-fat diets, lack of exercise, and low intake of fruits and vegetables affect the body's ability to absorb blood sugar.

 An easy solution is to use green tea, which is rich in flavonoids that increase the activity of insulin in the body. A cup of green tea throughout the day can be useful in preventing diabetes.

 Seeds (of different types)

 Now be it lentils, beans, or any other seed, some seeds have very low glycemic index levels. This means that after eating them, the body releases carbohydrates gradually and blood sugar level is less likely to rise rapidly.  

 According to a study, eating a cup of seeds daily for three months helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.


 Most people may think that a sweet fruit like an apple is harmful to diabetics. This is not true. People may eat fruits that have low or balanced glycemic index levels and fruit is one of those items.

 There are many other benefits to eating an apple a day because it is rich in fiber, vitamin C, and other ingredients.


 This delicious fruit is rich in Magnesium, this mineral helps the body to use insulin effectively, a few almonds a day is useful in balancing blood sugar levels. Also, almonds are high in protein, fiber and  Fatty acids are a good option for diabetics.

 Basil seeds

 Basil Seed is considered to be useful in preventing type 2 diabetes. It slows down the body's metabolism and helps in the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose.


 This blueberry fruit is rich in fiber which helps in eliminating excess fat from the body system as well as improves digestion and blood sugar.

 According to a study conducted in the United States, consuming two cups of blueberry juice daily lowers blood glucose levels as well as improves memory. The natural ingredients in blueberries help to shrink fat cells.  They are useful in releasing a hormone that regulates blood glucose levels. This way, blood sugar levels remain normal.

 Barley porridge

 For people with diabetes, the use of oatmeal is useful in controlling blood sugar. Barley oatmeal also improves heart health.  It also slows down the absorption of glucose in the body.


 Turmeric, commonly used in food, is useful in improving the digestive system.

 Some of the ingredients in turmeric help in the quick digestion of nutrients in the diet that can raise blood sugar levels.  The amount of pancreas, kidney, and muscle cells also increases.

 The use of fish is said to be useful in improving insulin sensitivity.

 The omega-3 fatty acids in fish reduce the amount of glucose in the body. Omega-3 fatty acids eliminate the causes of inflammation in the body.

 Olive Oil

 According to a Spanish medical study, if the diet is prepared in olive oil, the risk of type 2 diabetes can be reduced by up to 50%. Research has shown that dishes prepared in olive oil are better than ordinary ghee.  Also, the healthy fats in this oil are useful in protecting cells from damage and reduce the risk of heart disease.
